State of the World's Children

The Project

UNICEF’s State of the World's Children report (SOWC) presents an annual examination of a key issue affecting young people, including expert commentary, young people's voices, case studies, and supporting data and statistics. In 2017, SOWC focused on young people and digital technologies. To explore this issue, this project brought together 490 young people aged 10-18 from 26 different countries and speaking 24 official languages to participate in workshops held by UNICEF Country Offices and National Committees to share their views on how and why they use digital technologies in their everyday lives, as well as their aspirations for the future of our digitally mediated world. This project is part of an ongoing partnership with UNICEF around youth participation and engagement, and digital technologies.
